Granada Hills Caregivers

Granada Hills Caregivers

When the time comes you  may find yourself in the situation where either you or a senior loved one need in home care. According to online sources Baby Boomers have always had an outsize presence compared with other generations. They peaked at 78.8 million in 1999 and have remained the largest living adult generation. There were an estimated 74.1 million Boomers in 2016. By midcentury, the Boomer population is projected to dwindle to 16.6 million. So with such a large population growing who is going to take care of all these elderly people.

Who Are We ?

Blue Diamond Home Care is a full service senior home caregiver agency that aides seniors in their homes with their care needs.  In addition to helping clients with their home care needs, our caregivers can also assist with hospital stays and do 24 hour live in care. Blue Diamond Home Care has been around now for over 7 years assisting clients. Of course we are fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

How Does One Get Services ?

When you call our agency at 1-877-264-0896 we can set up a free in home assessment with our care coordinator. During this 1 hour visit you will get to meet an agency coordinator and possible caregivers for hire.

What If We Do Not Want The Caregiver ?

No problem when you work with us, we provide a pool of caregivers to choose from. This helps you feel at ease knowing if the caregiver you first hired through us doesn’t work we do have other caregivers.

What Is The Contract Like ?

For Service in Granada Hills, We have a contract which states what each party agrees to as far as cost, hours and services needed. Our contracts have a 1 day cancellation notice . If you would like more please call us at 1-877-264-0896 for a sample contract to be sent to you.

Are There Any Start Up Costs ?

We have no start up costs or cancellation, just give us a one day notice if you do not need care.

Is There A Deposit Required ?

We do require a deposit based upon the hours needed. For example if you need a caregiver and agree to the rate of $ 19 dollars per hour for 8 hours per day 5 days a week this makes your weekly home care cost $ 760.00 per week. This means for your first week you would need to give the deposit of $ 760.00. After that we can set up billing.

How Do I Pay ?

A client can either pay online with a debit card or they can mail us a check to our office. If you  have questions call us at 1-877-264-0896.

Does Medicare Pay For This ?

No, Medicare does not pay for home care services. Medicare pays for home health care which is care that is medical in nature. Medicare services work as follows first you need a Dr. note saying you need home health care. After which we can send out a nurse for a free assessment. Keep in mind Medicare covers physical therapy and home health aide visits both of which will cover only a few days per week. Shifts of 4 to 12 hours for non medical home care aides will not be covered by Medicare.

What Insurances Pay For Caregivers ?

Long term care insurance pays for non medical caregivers. Most have a waiting period where you would need to pay out of pocket for 90 days then get reimbursed. You also need to check with your provider to see what your coverage is. To learn more about long term care insurance please see https://www.aarp.org/caregiving/financial-legal/info-2018/long-term-care-insurance-fd.html

How Are Costs Determined?

The more hours you do the less the home care cost. We also base this off what a person needs. Someone who needs full body care will cost more than someone who simply needs companionship care.

Home Care Costs Hourly And Live In

Perhaps one of the most often questions we are asked is what is the cost. The cost for caregivers services depends on what the level or care is for the client. Let us say you have needs for care for someone who has dementia and they need basic around the home chores this level of cost would be far different that someone who needs full care who is bed bound and wears adult diapers. Let us say you sign up and the hourly rate is $ 20 dollars per hour and you need care for 12 hours per day. So the rate is $ 20 dollar but by CA law anything over 8 hours becomes overtime of 1.5x the normal rate. So if you are getting 12 hours per day at 5 days per week your cost would break down as follows.

8 hours (x) $ 20.00 dollars = $ 160 dollars

4 Hours at overtime makes the rate $ 20 dollars (x) 1.5x = $ 30 ( x) 4 hrs = $ 120 dollars

12 Hour shift cost is 8 hours at $ 160 dollars and 4 hours at $ 120 dollars making total $ 280 dollars

Flat Rate 24 Hour Live In Caregiver = $ 295 per 24 hours

Now in order to save money you may be better off getting a 24 hour live in caregiver. Live in rates are much less expensive when you hire a live in caregiver at $ 295 dollars per day that is a difference of $ 295 dollars per 24 hour Live vs $ 560 dollars if you are paying $ 20 dollars per hour for two 12 hour shifts. The price difference is $ 295 dollars per day. Or $ 1,475.00 dollars per week, which makes your savings $ 5,900 dollars per month or $ 70,800.00 dollars per year.
